Early Evening Sun 2

I tried the same scene as the other day but using a palette knife this time. I like the impressionistic slap it on style.
My internet connection has been lost for a few days which is why I haven't posted my paintings for Thursday and Friday.

6x6 Oil on board
This is further along yesterday's wave, but I wanted to see what visual difference there was in having a standard white background rather than the pink from yesterday. This version is also a little tighter. The next one will include the figure standing on the sand.

I'm staying with the seaside for a while as those pounding waves are calling me.

You, me and our shadow.
I'm continuing painting out of my comfort zone in an attempt to learn about the painting process. I was particularly pleased with using a touch of yellow in the waves and the lack of detail in the figures, yet it works fine...I think! What I'm disappointed with is Martin taking centre stage...I mean, he's too close to the middle of the painting for my liking.

Early Evening Sun

I love the evening light through trees especially if you haven't had a particularly good day and you need something to lift you.

On a Mission

The RNLI do a great job, so I thought I'd do a little study to acknowledge I'm aware of them.

Loose in the Garden

6x6 Oil on board
I started with the painting and realised I was including detail that I'm trying to avoid at the moment, so I painted the following three studies of the same scene with the thought of staying loose and using artistic you do. I used a white background for the first painting, an orange for the second, purple for the third and rose pink for the fourth.

The fact is that this scene has never changed. It could be anywhere in the world and there is nothing in view to date it.

Proceeds of the sale of this painting to go to the the Every Mother Counts aid organisation
Every 90 seconds, a women dies from childbirth. Fully 90% of those deaths are preventable. The Aid organizationEvery Mother Counts is training midwives in Afghanistan, opening health clinics in the Democratic Republic of Congo and shipping unused medical supplies to South Sudan. These are tangible, practical projects designed to combat maternal mortality and injuries worldwide.

This painting has now been overpainted a little but I've kept it here to remind me of how it looked
My daughter treated me to a night at the Sage Concert Hall to see Ron Sexsmith and this was the view after the performance as we crossed the millennium bridge.

Martin & Sarah

This is the windsurfing beach that apparently has no name in Brittany. I tried to capture the joy of standing up against the sheer power of the sea. I went out myself past the big breakers and consider myself lucky to have had just enough energy to make it back.

Pont Aven

6x6 Oil on board
A few weeks ago, we had just parked the car and were walking along the boat crammed river opposite this restaurant. Pont Aven is a lovely place with masses of art galleries and we had a great visit.

Yvon's Pride

I seem to catch the evening light in Yvon's woods because that's usually when I have a break from work in France. Yvon has usually gone by the time I get there, but he waves as he passes earlier in the day and sometimes stops to inspect our progress and distribute sweets.

I'm a day behind posting, so today's painting will have to be posted tomorrow and so on.

More Than Dandy

Bev planted and cultivated them and I did all the hard work by sitting on the bench sipping a chilled glass of dandelion and burdock and admiring them.

Take a Seat

Warm colours in memory of a warm summer. I love the freedom I had to do what I liked...I don't know why I don't give myself permission more often.

Spinnaker View

We took a leisurely walk along Southsea and looked back at the Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth A few hours later, we were back in time to board the ferry to Caen. I enjoyed creating this oil sketch so much that I feel there are more in the pipeline.

Around Quiberon

I don't think there is a nicer feeling of freedom than being on a beach without the need to rush back to normality. We just enjoyed being there and making the most of now.
